Dennis 'Denny' Hamilton, 70, of Clarion and formerly of Latimer, peacefully joined his heavenly father on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 with his oldest sons and daughter-in-law by his side, after a short battle with lung cancer. Funeral services for Dennis Hamilton will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 121 3rd Avenue North West in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will take place at the Alexander Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Dennis was the oldest child of Dean and Norma (Johnson) Hamilton. Dennis was born in Hampton, IA and was educated at Hampton and CAL community schools. Dennis married Lorraine (Lori) Petersen right after high school. From this marriage two sons were born, Tim & Jeff. Dennis and Lori later divorced. Dennis later married Carolyn (Beatty) White, from this union one son, Ryan, was born. Dennis helped Carolyn raise Ryan, her son Tim, and her three daughters Judy, Crissy, and Susie. Dennis and Carolyn divorced and Dennis moved to Latimer to live with his mother. He later moved to Clarion with his son, Tim and his daughter-in-law Dawn who lovingly cared for him. Through life, Dennis lived near Clarion, Dows, Chandler, AZ, Keokuk, and Latimer. Dennis was a hardworking man that had a multitude of jobs consisting of farm hand, bridge builder, truck driver, and factory worker. Dennis had a natural knack of tinkering and fixing things, which he gained from his father and passed to his sons. Dennis was known as a collector of anything that could be used later or repaired, which was inherited from his parents and passed to his sons. Dennis loved his dogs and always had one that he liked to take long walks with and share his meals. Later in life, Dennis was rarely seen without his sunglasses. Dennis is survived by his three sons Tim (Dawn) of Clarion, Jeff of Center Point, Ryan of Chandler, AZ; his twin brothers Darwin (Laura) of Iowa Falls, Delbert (Marilyn) of Latimer; his sister Corinne (Tom) Strumpel of West Liberty; 7 grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Courtney) Durham, Marissa (Josh) Lane, Heather (Peter) Smith, Bryce Hamilton, Adam Hamilton, Daniel Hamilton, Blake (Whitney) Hamilton and 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and one grandson.
