Obituary


Dennis N. Wiemann, 71, of Des Moines and formerly of Belmond, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Stratford Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond.  Burial will follow at the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Per Dennis’ wishes, casual clothing is encouraged.

Dennis Neal Wiemann, the son of John and Bena (Olson) Wiemann, was born January 11, 1951 in Belmond.  Dennis grew up in Alexander and later moved to Belmond. He graduated from Belmond High School with the class of 1969.

After high school, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1973 after three years of service.

Dennis was united in marriage to Pamela Allen on August 31, 1974 in Belmond.  He continued his education and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1979 with his teaching degree.  Dennis loved teaching industrial arts and was with the Indianola School District for 19 years. He then was a draftsman at Henning Construction in Johnston for 11 years.

In his free time Dennis loved stock car racing, motorcycles and cars.  He played computer games and kept his hands busy with woodworking.  He loved making toys and was known for giving away unique piggybanks.

He will be remembered for always having a story or joke to tell.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years Pam Wiemann of Des Moines, Iowa; son Jon Wiemann of Moscow Mills, Missouri; daughter Sarah Wiemann of Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughter Sky Wiemann of O’Fallon, Missouri; five siblings Orville, Marge, Bob, Barb, and Kay along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Helen, Lester, Roger and David.
