Derrick Wesley Berhow was born August 20, 1984 to Les and Peggy (Carpenter) Berhow in Belmond, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Belmond, graduating from Belmond-Klemme High School with the Class of 2003.

Derrick was united in marriage to Mandy Powers on June 3, 2016. The couple made their home in Belmond with their son Trent. Derrick loved spending time with his family and enjoyed sharing and teaching Trent all sorts of things, from hunting to pulling wire.

Derrick always had an aptitude and interest in the building trades. He worked for Kinseth Plumbing and Heating for a few years after high school before working at Winnebago Industries in Forest City for a time. He later worked for Packard Electric for seven years before accepting a position that allowed him to travel and work around the country, including time in Hawaii, Alaska, Texas and even Puerto Rico. In September of 2013, Derrick began working for DR Bonin Electric, where he was working currently. Derrick loved his work and was enthusiastic about going to work every day.

Derrick enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and camping. He was an avid gun enthusiast and a true patriot. Derrick loved hanging out with his friends and family, grilling or smoking meat to share with whomever might be around. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and attended the Garner Evangelical Free Church.

Derrick will be remembered for loving life, living every day to the fullest and loving everybody around him with everything that he had. His sense of humor was contagious, he was known to do whatever it took to get a laugh out of those around him, even if it was at his own expense.

Derrick is survived by his wife Mandy Berhow and their son Trent of Belmond; his parents Les and Peggy Berhow of Belmond; his sister Shaina Berhow of Mason City; grandparents Mike Berhow of Belmond and Marion Carpenter of Alexander; parents-in-law Jeff and Biz Powers of Garner; brothers-in-law Matt (Carolyn Day) Powers and children Mikayla, Morgan, Mattison, Jayden and Kirra of Klemme and Zach (Katie Rasmussen) Powers of Garner; grandparents-in-law Jack and Wanda Powers and Verneil Quintus, all of Garner; as well as numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and countless friends.
