Obituary

Dianne Lynn Dahl, 77, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, at the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha, Iowa.

Dianne was born on March 7, 1948 in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Norma Jean (Smith) Gerdes. In 1967 at the Kanawha Lutheran Church, she married Stephen James Dahl and he preceded her in death in 2014.

Dianne graduated from Britt High School in 1966 and went on to earn a business degree from Mankato College.

She held a variety of positions throughout her career, beginning at Kanawha Community Home as the activity coordinator and in other roles. She later worked as the secretary at Kanawha Lutheran Church, all while helping on the family farm. Dianne then served as the cook supervisor for the Kanawha Community School District. After returning to college and earning a degree in hotel and motel management from Iowa Lakes Community College, she moved to Missouri and began working at Tan-Tar-A Resort, where she managed several restaurants for many years.

Later, Dianne returned to Iowa to care for her father-in-law. In 2023, she moved back to Missouri to be with her daughter, Leslie, who was recovering from an accident, and the two became roommates at Pin Oaks Living Center.

Dianne had many hobbies, including crocheting, woodwork painting, decorating bricks, and baking. She especially cherished weekly outings with friends in Iowa for Mexican food and margaritas.

She was a devoted member of Kanawha Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping in the kitchen during church activities.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Dahl of Farber; one son, Thomas James Dahl of Michigan; and one granddaughter, Dorianne Miller of Pennsylvania.

In addition to her husband, Stephen, Dianne was preceded in death by a half-sister, Julie Ann Clark.

Memorial donations can be made to Leslie Dahl. She will be choosing a couple places dear to the family. Donations may be mailed to Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
