Obituary


Donald Dornbier, 67, of Garner passed away Thursday, August 16, 2001 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Donald, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Miller) Dornbier, was born January 4, 1934 in Wesley High School.  Following graduation, Don was employed by Ron Newbrough Trucking and later the Farmers Co-op Society in Wesley.

Don was united in marriage with Rose Nedved on March 30, 1959 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.  The couple lived in the Duncan and Britt area before moving to their farm near Duncan in 1966.  At that time Donald began farming and custom corn shelling.  He later was also employed by Winnebago Industries in Forest City.

Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing "500", fishing, hunting, and farming the "Dornbier Garden Spot."

Don is survived by his wife, Rose; two sons and their families: Paul and his wife, Joyce, and their children, Parker and Pryce of Sheffield, and Phillip and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Kim and Andrew of Garner; two brothers Eugene Dornbier of Wesley, Edward Dornbier and his wife, Rosa of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters Miki Killin and her husband, Mark of Des Moines, Sally Hejlik and her husband, Gary of Britt; brother-in-law Rosemary Dornbier Snyder of Wesley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale and sister Darlene Tusha.
