Donald E. Smith, 76, of Clarion passed away Friday, January 28, 2005, at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion.

Donald E. Smith was born November 3, 1928 in Webster City to George and Jessie (Entriken) Smith. He was raised and educated in Webster City, graduating from Webster City High School in 1946.

After graduation he joined the Army during the Korean War. He moved back to Webster City after being discharged and met Beverly Le Valley at a dance. On January 8, 1955 they were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union 3 children were born.

Don worked as a general contactor and did concrete work. Later he did contract work for the Bell Telephone Company for many years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and was always tinkering with something. He liked to smoke meats and would smoke turkeys for Thanksgiving and give them away. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Webster City.

He is survived by his children, Randy and his wife Janni of Sandpoint, Idaho, Curt and his wife Rhonda of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Pam Acheson of Johnston; 5 grandchildren, Travis Smith and Tori Smith both of Sandpoint, Idaho, Hayley Smith and Jill Smith both of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Kelsey Achesen of Johnston, Iowa.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents; and his brother Merlin.
