Obituary


Donald L. Hiscocks, 89, of Britt passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services for Donald Hiscocks will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors in Britt.

Visitation for Donald Hiscocks will be Monday, January 3, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Ewing Funeral Chapel.

Donald Lee Hiscocks was born on November 6, 1932 to Robert and Mavis (Rapp) Hiscocks on the farm 1 ½ miles west of Britt where he was raised with his seven brothers and four sisters.  At an early age he worked as a farm hand.

Don enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from August of 1954 until August of 1956.  He was united in marriage to Sharon Slawson on December 20, 1958, to this union two daughters were born, Victoria Ann and Lora Lee.  The couple divorced in 1971.  Don married Gloria Plantz on March 2, 1973.

Don farmed his entire life with his brother Jon.  Together they also had a love for dirt track racing and was inducted into the Kossuth County Speedway Hall of Fame in 2011.

Don is survived by his daughter Tori Hiscocks of Britt and step-daughter Terri Sue Bagley of Mason City; sister Bonnie Doughan of Britt, brother Dean Hiscocks of Dexter, Minnesota, grandchildren: Royal McNeese of Clear Lake, Shawn Hiscocks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Shay Oxley (Britain) of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Mark McNeese of Corwith; step-grandchildren Jeff Dolphin and Kim Dolphin both of Britt; 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lora Sanchez, wife Gloria Hiscocks, granddaughter Branda Le McNeese, brothers: Robert Jr., William, Monte, Alan and Jon Hiscocks; sisters: Jane Nielson, Nancy Caseperson, Judy Becker; step daughter Kathy DeWall.
