Donald Orvin Engh, 77, of Kanawha, passed away suddenly in his home on Thursday, December 23, 1999.

Donald, the son of Emery Newman and Newella (Thompson) Engh, was born on the family farm southwest of Kanawha on October 9, 1922.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Kanawha.  He attended country school and graduated from Renwick High School.

Donald was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church.  He was active in many farm-related organizations over the years, including the Wright County ASCS Committee, Hancock County Pork Board and was a 4-H leader for over 15 years.  He loved farming and raising livestock and always enjoyed working with people.  He raised and sold purebred Spotted hogs for almost 50 years and enjoyed selling seed up to the time of his death.  He was a strong believer in the Golden Rule when he was dealing with people.  He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's musical and athletic events.

Survivors include his wife Mildred; two sons, Marvin and his wife, Nancy of Kanawha and Robert (Bob) and his wife, Rita of Goldfield; six grandchildren, Elliot and Ellen; Natalie, Christopher, Eric and Shelby; one sister, Lois Lind of Marathon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford and his wife, Doreen and a brother-in-law LeRoy Lind.
