Obituary

Dorothy Kathryn Pritchard was born May 3, 1907, in Armstrong, Iowa, to John and Gertrude Laffey.

She graduated from Dolliver High School after which she completed a course at Mankato Commercial College.  She moved to Garner, Iowa where she was employed as clerk in the courthouse from 1926 - 29.  She married John Pritchard on October 15, 1929, at which time they moved to Britt to found Pritchard Auto Company.

Dorothy was a full-time homemaker whose main interests were her family and friends.  She enjoyed bridge, bowling, bingo, and the horse races.  She was an excellent but speedy driver, earning her title of "Dangerous Dorothy" - the title coined by her grandchildren as a term of endearment.  She is remembered by her family as having a great sense of humor as evidenced by the memory letters collected from everyone on the occasion of her 90th birthday.  She loved to re-read those memory pages and comment or chuckle about what each had to write about her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, one great-granddaughter, her parents, one son-in-law, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughter Sally Pritchard, Shoreview, Minnesota, son Bill Pritchard and wife, Vivian, Britt, Iowa, and daughter Mary Sillma, Toledo, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and sisters Faye Mountain and Florine Bargas.
