Obituary


Dorothy Lorraine Johnson, 74, of Kanawha passed away Saturday, August 12, 2000 at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Dorothy, the daughter of Amel and Viva Mae (Zeigler) Brown was born December 18, 1925 at Columbus, Montana. She moved to Henry, South Dakota, where she attended elementary school and was confirmed in the Christian faith at Graceland Country Church near Henry, South Dakota.  In 1935, following the death of her mother, she moved to the home of Loren and Gladys Zeigler near Kanawha.  In 1944, she graduated from Kanawha High School.  She was a sales representative for the Tupperware and Watkins products for many years.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson in Iowa City on July 6, 1946.  The couple made their home in Kanawha.

The love of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those thankful for having shared in Dorothy's life include a son, Marvin and wife Diane, Kanawha, three daughters, Jan Johnson, Algona, Julie and husband Russell Peters, Kanahwa, Kristy Allen, Belmond, seven grandchildren: Jasmine and husband Scott Lester, Corwith, Danille Allen, Cedar Rapids, Jamison Johnson, Kanawha, Candice Johnson, Britt, Brandon Allen, Belmond, Tasha Johnson, Kanawha, Zachary Johnson, Kanawha, three great-grandchildren: Wade and Erika Lester, Corwith and Sydney Zamago, Britt, and a special aunt, Gladys Zeigler, Kanawha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Arnold, her husband Kenneth, one sister Beatrice Hoffmanand a special uncle, Loren Zeigler.
