Dorothy M. Lee

Dorothy May Lee, 94, of Britt, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.

Dorothy Lee, the daughter of Walter A. and Bessie Mallory Lee, was born September 9, 1908, in Britt, Iowa.  She was a 1926, graduate of Britt High School and then attended a business college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dorothy resided in Cedar Rapids from 1926 until 1974, when she retired and returned to Britt.  At the time of her retirement, she was employed by Simmons, Perrine, Albright, and Ellwood, Attorneys where she had worked for 42 years as secretary to H. Y. Simmons. She was a member of the Boards of Directors of St. Martin Land Company and Iberville Land Company in Cedar Rapids from 1974 through 1986.

Dorothy attended the Congregational United Church of Christ in Britt and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Hancock County Historical Society.

Dorothy is survived by one sister Lucille I. Lattner of Panama City, Florida; two nephews: John W. Peterson of Los Angeles, California and William H. Peterson of Britt; grand-nephew Shawn M. Peterson of Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews living in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Horace W. Lee and four sisters, Perle R. Lee, Inez C. Meye, Peggy D. Lee, and Arlene R. Peterson.
