Dorothy Evelyn Spiess, 79, of Britt passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Dorothy the daughter of John and Sadie (Botine) Zeman was born January 4, 1921 in Palmer, Iowa.  She grew up in the Palmer area and attended Palmer Community School. Dorothy was united in marriage with Donald Spiess on December 6, 1939 at Palmer, Iowa.  The couple farmed in North Central Iowa until 1964 when they moved into Britt.  In 1979 the couple moved to Bentonville, Arkansas where they resided until the time of Donald's death in 1982.  Dorothy then moved back to Britt where she has since resided. Dorothy is survived by one son, Terry and his wife, Nancy of Ames and their children, Tory and Tanya; one daughter, Sheryll and her husband, Roger Denney of Garner and their children Lance and his wife, Stephanie Gardner, Jason Gardner, and Brian Denney; one sister Nora Reiter of Coon Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald, one brother, and four sisters.
