Obituary


Duane “Doc” F. Diemer, 80, of Britt, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home.

A memorial service for Doc Diemer will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street SW, in Britt with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating.  Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street SW, in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.  Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt is assisting the family.

Duane Frederick Diemer, the son of Floyd and Clara (Sailer) Diemer, was born on June 22, 1932 in Ackley, Iowa.  He attended school in Ackley, graduating from Ackley High School.  Doc then went to Iowa State University for two years before he was accepted at the College of Veterinarian Medicine.

Doc was united in marriage to Beverly Noelting on August 24, 1952 in Dumont, Iowa.  In June of 1956, Doc graduated from the College of Veterinarian Medicine at Iowa State University and the couple moved to Britt.  He established his Veterinary Practice and continued working for almost 50 years.

Doc was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt.  He was very active in the community as well being a member of the School Board, the Britt Country Club, City Council, Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce.

Doc loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren; they were his pride and joy.  He also enjoyed watching sporting events, fishing, golfing and playing cards.  Doc will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Doc is survived by his wife of 60 years Beverly of Britt; 3 children:  Marsha (Mark) Meyer of Johnston, Jim (Renee) Diemer of Britt and Curt (Christa) Diemer of West Branch; 11 grandchildren:  Lizzie, Dan, Allie, Nicole, Aaron, Kristie, Jane, Rachel (fiancé Joe Knoepfler), Erika, Kara and Julia; 2 sisters:  Sharon (Bob) Treinen and Doris (Robert) Ibeling; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Diane.
