Obituary
Edna B. Staples, 96, passed away Monday, October 19, 1992 at the IOOF Home, in Mason City, Iowa.
Edna, the daughter of Elliott and Ella (Burdick) Bowker was born March 29, 1896 at Britt, Iowa. She received her education in the Britt schools and graduated from Britt High School in 1917. In 1918 she began her duties as a telephone operator for 33 years.
In 1952 she was united in marriage with William Staples at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Britt, Iowa. The couple made their home in Britt.
She was a member of the Britt United Methodist Church and the Women's Society, Royal Neighbors, King's Daughters, and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed reading, fishing, playing cards, and visiting with friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William in 1953 and a sister, Ethel E. Downs in 1991.
Survivors include two nephews, Richard and wife Agnes Downs, Mason City, Iowa; and Robert and wife Nancy Downs of Oelwein, Iowa; seven grand nephew and nieces.
