Obituary


Elizabeth Irene Wickman (Row) Woolf, 92, of Clarion passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Memorial services for Elizabeth Woolf will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue Northeast in Clarion, with Pastor Mike Gudka officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Elizabeth Wickman was born in Knierim, Iowa on June 3, 1924 to William and Celia Wickman. Elizabeth graduated from Rowan High School and attended Midstates Business College in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked for Braniff Airlines in Kansas City and Brownsville, Texas until she married Jack Row of Ohio. To this union, four children were born: Jack W. Row II, Valerie, Jeffrey and Barbara.

Beth followed her husband to California during World War II and later returned to Clarion where their children were reared. She was employed at Mueller Studio for over 30 years, was active in Federated Club, the United Methodist Church as a life-long member, and Mensa. Jack and Beth retired to Tampa, Florida in 1982 and Beth was widowed in 1991.

Beth married Jim Woolf of Tampa, Florida in 1998 and spent 15 years traveling the world with Jim and family, playing in numerous bridge clubs, and enjoying all that Florida retirement had to offer. Beth returned to Clarion, Iowa in 2012 when she was widowed again. She lived at The Meadows in Clarion and enjoyed reading, visits from family, and the company of staff and residents there until her passing.

Beth is survived by her four children, Jack (Annette) Row of Loudon, Tennessee, Valerie (George) Watson of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jeffrey (Kathy) Row of Dallas, Texas, and Barbara (Jim) Moore of Clarion. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jeff (Kathy) Row, Bret (Kathy) Row, Josie (Austin) Beine, Andy (Amber) Row, Tyler (Katie) Row, Elizabeth (Nick) McOllough, Samuel (Kristina) Moore, and Christopher Row, along with great-grandchildren Victoria and Arlo. She enjoyed the love and company of the Woolf children, Cheryl Estabrook and Chuck (CeCe) Woolf and their children. She is also survived by her half-brother, Fred (Jan) Wickman of Key West, Florida.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Simpson Stout, husbands Jack Row and Jim Woolf, brother Boyd (Betts) Wickman, and half-sisters Joy and Judith, along with life-long friends Jane and Frank Middleton.
