Elizabeth J. Gahan

Elizabeth J. Gahan, age 80, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the United Church of Christ Congregational, with Pastor Dean Goebel officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, Clarion, Iowa, 50525, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Elizabeth J. Gahan, age 80, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

Elizabeth Jane Gahan, daughter of Charles R. and Eleanor (Aldrich) LaBarre, was born on September 9, 1926 in Algona, Iowa. She grew up in Algona and graduated from Algona High School. She then attended Lindenwood School for Women in St. Charles, M, and later Beloit College in Beloit, WI where she was a member of the Phi Beta Phi.

Elizabeth was married and was blessed with six children, Bill, Bob, Deb, Jodie, Julie, and Pat.

She worked at Hagie Manufacturing for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, working outdoors, spending time with her family, and loved animals.

Elizabeth was a very active member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, DAR, and Phi Beta Phi.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Robert M. (Deb) Gahan of Grand Lake, CO; four daughters, Deborah (Dan) Prehm of Eagle Grove, IA Jodie (Dale) McDonough of Iowa Falls, IA, Julie (Russ) Brandau of Osage, IA, and Pat Borel of Clear Lake, IA; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marion Ferris of Algona, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bill; one brother; and two sisters.
