Ella (Lewerke) Bergman, 89, of Britt, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Ella was born August 19, 1914, in Austinville, Iowa to Harm and Jennie (Miller) Lewerke, the second of ten children.
Ella married John Bergman on September 15, 1937, at Bethel Baptist Church parsonage in Britt, Iowa. Ella received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1952, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was active in Ladies Missionary Fellowship and helped with the Awana Club up until November of 2003.
Ella is survived by one daughter, Judy Oudekerk and her husband, Bob of Britt; four sisters: Susan McClain, Jennie Forshee and her husband, Lynn, Rosie Brunsen, and Eileen Smith and her husband, Clifford all of Britt; three brothers: Pete Lewerke and his wife, Viola of Garner, Jake Lewerke and his wife, Ethel of Clarion, and Elzo Lewerke and his wife Betty of Britt; three sisters-in-law: Eula Lewerke of Annandale, Minnesota, Grace Nelson and Helen Bergman both of Britt; one brother-in-law: Bennie Bergman of Des Moines; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Beulah Riege of Sun City, California; one aunt, Jennie Lewerke of Mason City, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 1997; one sister Gertrude Smidt and one brother Harm Lewerke.
