Elsie G Foster, 83, of Dows, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2002 at
Crestview Manor in Webster City.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the Dows
United Methodist Church with Rev Tony Hershey officiating. Burial will take
place in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.
Elsie Geraldine Root was born near Dows on January 9, 1919 to George and Bessie
(Annett) Root, and passed away on Decemeber 26, 2002 in Webster City, Iowa at
the age of 83 years. She lived her entire life in the Dows area, where she
recieved her education.
On July 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Leon Foster, near Fossum,
Minnesota. They moved to Dows, where she has lived, except for winter months,
which were spent in their home in San Juan, Texas. She later moved to Weslaco,
Texas.
To this union were bron three children: Mae Nora, James Albert who passed away
at the age of one, and Sandra Lea.
Mrs. Foster was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dows, former Road
Runners Camping Club, a charter member of the KYN Club and the Dows Senior
Citizens. She was known for her creative decorated cakes.
She is survived by her two daughters Mae Koop and husband John of Kamrar and
Sandra Toomsen and husband Lorell of Waterloo; and 4 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son James Albert;
great-grandson Nehemiah Horner; and two sisters Helen Haines and Rhonda
Kreitlow.
