Obituary
Emery Newman Engh, 97, passed away Monday, January 4, 1993, at the Kanawha Community Home.
Emery, the son of Knud and Emma (Larson) Engh, was born December 10, 1895, in Kendall County Illinois near Morris, Illinois. In January 1904 he moved with his family to Boone Township, near Renwick and received his education in rural school.
On October 5, 1921, he was united in marriage with Newella Marjorie Thompson at Kanawha, Iowa. He was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Kanawha and was a life long member. He served as a Trustee on the Church Board, School Director at Boone Country School #6 and served for 20 years on the A.S.C.S. In 1976, they retired from farming and moved to Kanawha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Clifford in 1974, two sisters, Ann Gaston and Emma Olsen, two brothers John and Olin.
Survivors include his wife, Newella of Kanawha, Iowa; a son Donald and his wife, Mildred Engh of Kanawha, Iowa; a daughter, Lois and her husband, LeRoy Lind of Marathon, Iowa; a brother, William Engh of Kanawha; a sister Ruth Rojohn of Fairport, New York; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
