Emma Darlene (Brannick) Anderson, 88, of Dows, passed away on Monday, December
6, 2021 at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 1:30 PM at the
Dows Community Center, 119 East Ellsworth Street in Dows. Burial will follow at
Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on
Monday. Masks are strongly encouraged.
Emma Darlene Anderson was born to Bert and Gladys Brannick in Iowa Falls on
April 8, 1933. She was raised for most of her childhood in Dows. Darlene
attended Dows Community School where she graduated in 1952. She married George
Anderson on August 25, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Darlene drove school bus for 27 years for the Dows school. She and George
raised three children: Douglas, Donald, and Debra. Darlene was active in the
Dows Presbyterian Church, Ladies Birthday Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and
various volunteer activities in the community. She was an active volunteer
fireman's wife for George and the Dows Volunteer Fire Dept. For many years, she
brought coffee, sandwiches, brownies, and treats to the fireman when needed.
Darlene had many hobbies and interests. She loved sports and played golf well
into her seventies. She was proud to have won the ladies club championship at
the Dows golf course in her later years. She and George loved to go fishing and
camping in Minnesota and Iowa. Another favorite thing was to play cards with
family and friends. Darlene loved to take care of her little birds from her
birdfeeders and especially loved dogs.
Darlene resided with George in Dows until July 2019 when she moved to Hampton
Care Center in Hampton.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bert and Gladys Brannick, sister Lois
Mcoy, brother Marvin Brannick, brother Keith Brannick, brother Larry Brannick,
brother William Brannick, brother Bob Brannick, and brother Richard Brannick.
She is survived by her husband George Anderson, children Douglas (Sue) of Long
Grove, Iowa, Donald of Iowa Falls, Debra Schloss (Joe) of Spencer, 5
grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Darlene was a beloved wife to George for 69 years and a cherished mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother.
