Obituary


Emogene Ardell Grandstaff, 81, passed away, Thursday, August 26, 1999, at he Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Emogene, the daughter of Floyd, St. and Loraine (Carr) Rummel, was born April 21, 1918, at Dows, Iowa.  She attended school in the Dows area, and graduated from Williams High School in 1935.  She attended the Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois, graduating on June 4, 1942.

She served with the United States Army Nurse Corps during WWII as a Second Lieutenant, serving in the European Theatre and the Anzio Beach Landing.  She was discharged from the Army on July 15, 1943 and moved to Britt in 1958.  She was formerly married to Forrest Grandstaff of North Platte, Nebraska.

Emogene is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Suarez, and her children Tino and Cristy of Spartanburg, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Rummel of Saratoga, Wyoming; three nieces and two nephews and a great uncle in California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers James and Floyd.
