Esther Lucille Meyer, 81, of Clarion, passed away Friday, December 13, 2002 at USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion with Father David Beckman officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Clarion. Esther Lucille was born January 24, 1921 in Aredale to Abel and Gertie (Geiken) Mittelstadt. She was the youngest girl of twelve children. She was raised and educated in the Iowa Falls area graduating from Iowa Falls High School in 1940. On March 16, 1941, she married Clifford William Meyer Sr. Esther and Clifford farmed Clifford's home near Clarion. She was dedicated farmwife helping her husband when and where ever needed. Esther and Clifford had one son Clifford whom she adored. Her husband Clifford died at the early age of 54. Esther then rented the farm to a friend and neighbor Eddy Hanus for nearly thirty years. Esther was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion. Esther is survived by one son Clifford Meyer Jr. of Harlingen, Texas; brother Don Mittelstadt of Wichita, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 10 siblings.
