Etta Bruns, 98, of Britt passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Etta, the daughter of Eggo and Etta (Eden) Stohr was born March 22, 1903 in the Woden area. She attended rural school in the Woden area.
Etta was united in marriage with Walbert Bruns on January 18, 1928, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Titonka. The couple farmed in the Woden and Titonka area before moving to the farm northwest of Britt. In January of 1930, they retired and moved into Britt.
Etta loved to sew quilts and clothing, to embroider and crochet until her eyesight no longer allowed her to do this. She loved having the grandchildren over and cooking and baking buns for the family.
Etta is survived by three daughters: Rosella Bruns of Britt, Lillian and Don Dittmar of Walnut Creek, California and Adeline and Hans Larsen of Dike; one son, Raymond Bruns and his wife, Marilyn of Britt; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lora Redenius of Britt and Lydia Hillenga of Woden; three sisters-in-law; LenaHarringa of Britt, Francis Bruns of Britt and Tressie Beenken of Buffalo Center; and two brothers-in-law: Edward Stohr of Woden and Bruno Bruns of Britt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walbert on February 24, 1979, two sisters, Getrude Kurtzlben and Caroline Senne, two brothers, Henry Stohr and one stillborn, and one stillborn great-grandchild.
