Obituary
Eva Mae Kumsher, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at her home in Britt, Iowa.
Eva, the daughter of John T. and Ivy Mae (Thorne) Gatchel, was born on May 24, 1914, in Pontiac, Illinois. She moved to Britt with her family to a farm southeast of Britt. She attended school in Britt and graduated from Britt High School.
On February 14, 1933, she was united in marriage with Edward Kumsher at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, Iowa. The couple farmed in Erin Township. They retired in 1972 and moved into town.
Eva is survived by her children: Jeanette and her husband, Richard Whitehurst of Garner, IA; Raymond and his wife, Maxine Kumsher of Kanawha, IA; Betty and her husband, Bill Reibsamen of Hampton; Edwin and his wife, Mae Kumsher of Rohresville, MD; Verna and her husband, Sam Kendall of Oskaloosa, IA; Robert and his wife, Patricia Kumsher of Omaha, NE; two sisters: Doris Claude of Garner, IA; Emma Lou Stayner of Hampton, IA; two brothers: John Gatchel of Garner, IA; Jim Gatchel of Garner, IA; a sister-in-law: Robertine Gatchel of Garner, IA; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward in 1993, one brother, Clarence, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
