Evelyn G. (Smith) Smith

Evelyn Smith, 83, of Rogers, Arkansas, formerly of Britt, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Heritage Park Nursing Center in Rogers, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.

Evelyn Gloria Smith, the daughter of Frank J. and Pearl (Volding) Smith, as born on June 15, 1924 in Crystal Lake, Iowa.  She attended the Crystal Lake Schools and graduated in 1942.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Calvin L. Smith on August 26, 1944 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  The couple farmed the family farm until 1973 when they moved to Britt.  Evelyn then worked in the Britt High School cafeteria for a number of years before retiring due to her health.

Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt and was active in Rebekah's Lodge and the Women's Group.  Evelyn also enjoyed traveling and visiting with relatives and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her son Arnold Smith and his wife Paulette of Rogers, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Troy Smith of Rogers, Arkansas, Justin Smith and his wife Trisha of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Jolene Smith of Washington, Missouri; great-granddaughter Kaily Smith; two sisters: Mable McAndrews of Pennsylvania and Arline Blay of Oregon; along with other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Calvin on August 27, 1984; three sisters: Betty Madsen, Ella Curley, and Mildred Harley; four brothers: Luverne, Milton, Wilbur, and Arlan "Smitty" Smith.
