Obituary
Evelyn M. Smidt, 85, of Britt passed away Friday, February 10, 2006, at Westview Care Center in Britt.
Evelyn, the daughter of Floyd G. and Lucy Mary (Boutilier) Charbonneaux, was born January 15, 1921, n Ottawa, Illinois. At a young age, she moved with her family to the Britt area where she attended school.
On August 20, 1937, Evelyn married Ole Smidt, Sr. in Britt. Evelyn worked various places in Britt, including the milk plant, hospital, nursing home and also did child care.
Evelyn enjoyed walking, cooking, baking, and making quilts. She loved to feed and watch the birds and squirrels.
Evelyn attended the Britt United Methodist Church.
Evelyn is survived by one daughter Emily Redmond of Charles City; two sons: Ole Smidt, Jr. and his wife Mary of Britt and Allan Smidt and his wife Susan of Tilden, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one brother Roy Charbonneaux of Britt and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ole Sr. in 1992; two sisters Fern Smith and Eva Schleuger; brother Floyd Charbonneaux, Jr. and one infant brother.
