Everett "Blacky" Hennigar, 91, of Clarion, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at
his home.
A Celebration of Life visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023
at The Red Shed Event Center, 908 2nd Street Northwest in Clarion.
Private family burial will be held.
Everett Alan, son of Miriam (Davis) and Henry Hennigar, was born on December 1,
1931 in Rockwell. He grew up there until his family moved to Clarion where he
finished school. While in high school, Blacky worked at the movie theater in
Clarion as an usher.
Shortly after high school, Blacky joined the Army in November of 1952. He was
discharged in September of 1954 and returned to Clarion. He worked at the Buick
garage for a while before starting with the railroad and retired after 31 years.
On April 16, 1955, Blacky was united in marriage to Barbara Elliott at the
Methodist Church in Clarion. They made Clarion their home and raised their five
children. While the kids were growing up, Blacky enjoyed taking them fishing.
Blacky was a hard worker. He was often seen helping Alan with his construction
business, Steve with his towing business, or Scott with his garbage business. In
his "spare time", Blacky would take a nap or watch a cowboy movie. He was always
willing to help anyone with anything.
Blacky is survived by his wife Barbara Hennigar of Clarion; children Everett Jr.
"Alan" (Karen) Hennigar of Clarion, Steve (Diana) Hennigar of Clarion, Colleen
(Richard) Meier of Clarion, and Scott (Tangela) Hennigar of Clarion; numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; siblings
Lloyd (Peg) Hennigar, Darleen Headley, Dennis (Janet) Hennigar, and Inez (Merle)
Weidemann ; and many nieces, nephews, and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Miriam and Henry Hennigar; daughter Gail
Jensen; granddaughter Amanda Meier Stracke; siblings Harold, Pauline, Mildred,
Vera, and Kenny.
