Obituary


Florence E. Paul, 105, of Williamsburg, Iowa, formerly of Clarion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 16, 2015, at United Presbyterian Church, 219 1st Street Northwest in Clarion with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion.

Florence Paul, born June 5, 1910, in Sac City, IA the daughter of George Tuttle and Minnie (David) Tuttle. On May 1, 1934, she was married to William W. Paul.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women’s Group and United Presbyterian Church in Clarion, IA. She was a homemaker and farmwife and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Florence attributed her long life to working on the farm, eating healthy, staying active, always being on the go, loving life and enjoying her family and friends. Florence lived on the family farm in Clarion for 55 years before moving into town.

Florence is survived by two sons, Richard (Anne) Paul of Oswego, IL  and Ronald (Joyce) Paul of Coralville, IA; son-in-law, Jack Clark of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Roxanne (Steve) Byers of Oxford, IA, Bill Paul of Solon, IA, Ardia (Mick) Harris of North Liberty, IA, Michelle (Darrin) Waller, of Clarion, IA, Greg (Patti) Paul of Channahon, IL, Karen (Roy) Rodriguez of Naperville, IL, and Richard Craig Clark; 19 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, William (W.W.) Paul; brothers, Clark and Lester Tuttle; sister, Alice McCoy; daughter, Betty Clark and granddaughter, Laurie Paul Nebel.

Florence was famous for her M&M and chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls and enjoyed playing Yahtzee with family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Florence’s family would like to thank the staff at Highland Ridge for their ongoing support and caring for Florence during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
