Florence M. (Sauer) Rounds
Florence M. Rounds, 81, passed away Friday, December 24, 1999 at her home in Britt, Iowa.
Florence, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Ingenthron) Sauer, was born September 22, 1918 on a farm in rural Woden. She attended country schools in the Woden area and then helped out at home. She was united in marriage with Leonard Rounds on September 25, 1936 in Algona, following their marriage the couple made their home in Britt. Florence was employed at Selby Produce, during WWII she worked at the hemp plant and Fairmont Foods. She later worked with her husband in construction. Florence then worked for Winnebago Industries until her husband’s illness required her to care for him.
Florence was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and active in various ladies committees at church. She was a volunteer at Westview Care Center and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hancock County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Hancock County Historical Society.
Florence is survived by two sons: Robert and his wife, Winifred of Perry and their children, Christine and her husband, Aaron and Jennifer and her husband, Tony and their children Ezekiel, Christopher and Jozy, and Curtis and his wife, Cheryl, of Britt and their children, Matt and his wife, Tenille, Gabe, and Ashley, one sister, Irene Sauer of Mason City, and a niece, Connie Rethamel (who lived with Leonard and Florence) and her husband, Don of Nora Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard on August 6, 1992, daughter JoAnn on April 27, 1982, four brothers, and three sisters.
