Obituary


Floyd H. Carlson, 64, passed away Thursday, October 31, 1996, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Floyd, the son of Tom and Charlotte (Johnson) Carlson, was born October 28, 1932 in Hancock County, Iowa.  He attended Kanawha Public Schools, and entered the service during March of 1950. He served in the Korean Conflict until March of 1953, when he was Honorable Discharged.

On August 1, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ruby Rhoads at Nashua, Iowa.

Floyd was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.  His life was his family, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed baseball, gardening, carpentry, cribbage and being with his friends and family.  Floyd was an over the road truck driver for the past nineteen years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Lone Rock, Iowa; his children, Mike and his wife, Kym of Cleveland, Minnesota and children West, Kyle, Dylan, Zachery, Kaleb and Kelsey; Rhonda and her husband, Mike Nemmers of Bancroft, Iowa, and son Brandon; Donna Kayser and Chris of Henderson, Minnesota, and children, Heather, Jake, Jordy Floyd and Danielle; and Terri and her husband, Wayne Russell of Estherville, Iowa, and children, David and his wife, Karla and their son, Ben, John, Nate, Jason and Deserie; three sisters, Marie Minor of Clarion, Iowa; Margaret Anderson and her husband, Clarence of Kanawha, Iowa; Mildred Anderson of North Platte, Nebraska; three brothers, Thomas and Harold Carlson of Kanawha, Iowa; Donald and his wife, Marian of Watertown, Wisconsin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
