Obituary


Floyd “Mitch” Charbonneaux, 67, of Britt passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

According to Mitch’s wishes, he was an organ and tissue donor and his body has been cremated. A private family burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Floyd Mitchell Charbonneaux was born August 10, 1948 to Floyd “Pete” and Lois (Deibler) Charbonneaux at Park Hospital in Mason City.

Mitch was raised and educated in Britt, graduating from Britt High School with the Class of 1967.

Following high school, Mitch continued to work for his father at Floyd’s Champlain Service in Britt, until Floyd retired in 1974. Mitch then began working at Iowa Mold Tooling in Garner until May of 2000.

Mitch loved all things automotive. He enjoyed driving around north central Iowa, and enjoyed attending drag racing events in Humboldt. Mitch also attended several Grand National drag races in Florida over the years.

Mitch is survived by his brother Mike (Jan) Charbonneaux of Britt; nephews Justin (Lisa) Charbonneaux and sons Cale Michael and William Anthony of Algona and John (Maria) Charbonneaux of Urbandale, Iowa; along with numerous cousins, other family members and friends.

Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Lois Charbonneaux, both in 2000.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Donor Network, and sent to the family’s attention at P.O. Box 342 in Britt.
