Obituary


Floyd "Pete" E. Charbonneau, Jr., 76, of Britt passed away Tuesday, Aprill 11, 2000 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Pete, the son of Floyd G. and Lucy (Boutilier) Charbonneaux, Sr.  was born January 23, 1924, in Ottawa, Illinois.  At the age of five, he moved with his family to Britt.  He received his education in the Britt School system and graduated from Britt High School in 1943.  Following graduation from high school, he joined the United States Navy and served on board the USS Bolivar in the Pacific.

Pete was united in marriage with Lois M. Deibler on July 23, 1945 at the Little Brown Church.  Following his discharge he returned to Britt and attended Britt Jr. College.  He was employed with his father and later took over the filling station and farmed.

Pete enjoyed all sports especially watching his grandsons participate.  He also enjoyed trapping and hunting and loved to travel.  Pete was a member of the Britt VFW and American Legion Posts; he has also served on the Britt City Council.

Pete is survived by his wife Lois of Britt; two sons, Mitch Charbonneaux of Britt and William "Mike" Charbonneaux and his wife, Janice, and their sons, Justin and John of Britt; one brother Roy Charbonneaux and his wife, Lillian of Britt; two sisters Eva Schleuger of Britt and Eleyn Smidt of Britt; and one brother-in-law Milton Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, one sister, and two brothers-in-law.
