Obituary


Frances A. (Lynch) Martin, 88, of Clarion passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private family Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Martin will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion.

Frances was born September 28, 1931 to Leo and Olga (Larson) Lynch in Clarion. She attended and graduated from Clarion High School in 1949. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Carroll Martin at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion and together they farmed south of Clarion, until their retirement in 1994.

In 1998, Frances and Carroll moved to Muscatine to be near their daughter, Nancy. In 2010, they made their home in Boone, which was closer to their daughter, Carole. Following Carroll’s death, Frances returned to Clarion, making her home at the Meadows for a time before moving to the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Frances was a meticulous homemaker, she took great pride in keeping a spotless home and making sure the children looked their very best for school each day. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s events.

Frances is survived by her children, Craig Martin of Clarion, Nancy (Mark) Davison of Nashville, Tennessee, Carole (Tom) Barragy of Boone, David (Christine) Martin of Iowa City, Karen (Gene) Busch of Ledyard; grandchildren Calli (Vinnie) Versagli, Jeff (Morgan) Davison, Marci (Brad) Waterman, Matt Barragy, Grace Barragy, Anna Martin, Sarah Martin, Michael Martin, Caitlin Martin, Trey Busch and Peyton Busch; three great-grandchildren; her brother Lowell (Elma) Lynch of Belmond; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carroll in 2012, and an infant daughter, Mary Ann.
