Obituary


Frances S. Anderson, 93, of Kanawha, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.

Frances, daughter of Henry and Marguerite (Johnson) Severson, was born on December 9, 1909, near Kanawha.  She grew up in rural Kanawha and attended country schools in the area.

On December 17, 1929, Frances was united in marriage to Ardo "Buzzy" Anderson in Garner.  The couple lived on a farm near Kanawha until 1987, when they moved into town.  In September 2002, Frances entered the Kanawha Community Home.

Frances was a full time housewife and mother.  She was an accomplished quilter; everyone in her family has a quilt made by her.  She also enjoyed baking; her specialty was kringla.

Frances was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, and the quilting group.

Frances is survived by five children: Lucille Osby and her husband, Gordon of Kanawha, Arlan Anderson and his wife, Sharon of Kanawha, Dean Anderson and his wife, Daphne of Huxley, Larry Anderson and his wife, Darlene of Kanawha, Barbara Hegg and her husband, Bob of Ft. Collins, Colorado; eleven grandchildren: Gary (Terry) Osby, Cheryl (Dennis) Rietema, James (Lisa) Osby, Lori (Rick) Ratzke, Andrew (Amy) Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Dana (Alan) Anderson-Glass, Erika Anderson, Sara Anderson, Jamie Eubank, and Carie (Jordan) Aslor, eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister Arlene Zeigler of Kanawha; a special nephew Arlo Anderson and his wife, Violet of Scobey, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardo "Buzzy" in 1990, a great-grandson, six sisters, and one brother.
