Francine Sweers, 88, of Britt, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at Westview
Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services for Francine Sweers will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday,
December 17, 2022 at Britt United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street South West in
Britt with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen
Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation for Francine Sweers will be held from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM on Saturday,
December 17, 2022 at Britt United Methodist Church.
Francine Sweers was born November 22, 1934 to Frank and Mabel (Willis) Erickson
on the family farm near Forest City. Francine graduated from Forest City High
School in 1952.
Francine was united in marriage to Elmer Sweers on September 27, 1953 at the
United Methodist Church in Forest City. To this union, four children were born.
Elmer and Francine raised their family on a farm six miles west of Britt, before
moving one and a half miles southwest of Britt in 1970. Elmer and Francine moved
to Britt in 1992.
Francine was a homemaker and later worked in the hot lunch kitchen in the Britt
schools.
Francine enjoyed playing cards, word search puzzles, reading, embroidery, and
playing dominoes. Elmer and Francine always had a vegetable garden. Most of all,
Francine enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Francine was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Britt. She
was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, Miriam Circle at
the church, and the Homemakers Club.
Francine is survived by her children Ronald (Alesa) Sweers of Britt, Robert
(Johnna) Sweers of Guttenberg, Debra (Jim) Madigan of Waseca, and Deanne (Dave)
Ulrich of Cedar Falls; grandchildren Drew (Krista) Sweers, Matt Sweers, Zachary
(Kali) Sweers, Taylor (Mandy) Sweers, Kristen Sweers (Neal Pollock), Robby
Sweers, Katelyn Madigan (Anuj Shrestha), Amanda Madigan (Benjamin Johnson), Maty
Ulrich, Marissa Ulrich and Joseph Ulrich; great-grandchildren Jayden and Keira
Sweers, Mazie, Cora, and Frances Sweers, Lucy, Willa, and Cole Sweers, and Opal
Pollock; sister-in-law Janet Moldenhauer of Britt; along with numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Francine is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents, and an infant
brother, Roger.
