Gary Lee Harty, 83, of Belmond, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his home.
Memorial services were held on October 18, 2015 at Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luicks Lane South in Belmond.
Gary Lee, son of Maynard and Geneva Olsen Harty, was born on May 21, 1932 in Dows. He attended school in Belmond. Gary enlisted into the Air Force on April 5, 1951. He was stationed in Louisiana. On December 26, 1951, Gary was united in marriage to Mary Pederson. The couple was blessed with four children. Gary was discharged from the Air Force on March 17, 1955.
Gary was a carpenter his entire life. He built many houses; footings to finish. He worked for Dorr Construction for awhile. Gary never really officially retired. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, especially ice fishing.
Gary is survived by his four children Judy Reeder, Teresa Platt, David Harty, and June (Harvey) Tulp; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special friend Cheryl Nielson; and several other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Katherine (Kaye) Kratky-Mennenga, and wife Mary.
