Obituary


Genevieve B. (Ruter) Seebeck, 86, of Britt passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services for Gen Seebeck will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Britt Christian Reformed Church - At The Crossroads Ministries, 569 Main Avenue North in Britt, with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Britt Christian Reformed Church – At The Crossroads Ministries, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Genevieve “Gen” Seebeck was born December 17, 1929 to Hieko and Pearl (Brower) Ruter in Wright County, Iowa. When Gen was 4 years old, she and her parents moved to a farm west of Kanawha. She attended country school at Amsterdam #9 and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1947.

In the Fall of 1947, Gen made profession of her faith in the Wright Christian Reformed Church. She was most recently a member of the Britt Christian Reformed Church.

Gen was united in marriage with Clarence Seebeck on March 5, 1951. To this union, they were blessed with four daughters. The family made their home on the Seebeck family farm until September of 2005 when they moved into Britt.  Gen worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt for many years.

Gen is survived by her daughters Peggy Eisenman, Vicki (Mike) Matern, Jane (Jon) Swenson all of Britt and Jean (Larry) Wolters of Prosser, Washington; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Cory) Schrank, Dave (Sarah) Eisenman, Joel (Paige) Eisenman, Steve Eisenman, Tyler (Stacy) Swenson, Molly (Joe) Sorenson, Luke Wolters and Jacob Wolters; nine great-grandchildren, Cole, Campbell and Reed Schrank, Kylie and Cade Eisenman, Paxton, Cooper, and Cruz Eisenman, and Harper Swenson; sister Beverly (John) DeWaard, sister-in-law Karen Ruter, and brother-in-law George Seebeck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Clarence in 2012, brother Virgil in 2000, and her son-in-law Ron Eisenman in 2014.
