George W. Baker, 87, of Clarion passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at the
Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
No services will be held at this time.
George Wilbur Baker, son of Wilbur and Mildred (Rossum) Baker, was born on
October 11, 1933 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School
in 1951. He also served with the Iowa National Guard for six years.
He was united in marriage to DeeLorys (Brown) Stark on October 1, 1961. He then
became the step-father to four boys, Russ, Don, Jeff and Tim Stark.
They lived at Lake Cornelia and later moved to Eagle Grove where he worked for
the lumber store. They moved back to Lake Cornelia and he became a member of the
Anderson-Erickson Dairy team, driving the milk truck. Later he and Dee moved to
Lake Havasu City, Arizona where he managed Mohave Resort on the Colorado River.
After retiring, he and Dee returned to Clarion and Lake Cornelia at the acreage
(with the barn). George kept busy mowing lawns for the residents around the
lake.
He is survived by his step-sons Russel (Jannel) of Thornton and Timothy Stark of
Clarion, step-grandchildren Brandi, Ryan, Clinton, Dustin, Stacy, Skylar,
Sydnee, six great-grandchildren and nieces.
George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, step-son Donald and
one great-grandchild.
