Geraldine "Gerry" J. (Gahan) Hansmeier, 93, of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday,
January 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Home in Forest City.
Funeral service for Geraldine Hansmeier will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday,
January 26, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Chapel 178 Center Street West in Britt with
Pastor Les Green officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on
Thursday. Burial will be in Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake.
Geraldine "Gerry" June Hansmeier, the daughter of John and Maysil (Rydson)
Gahan, was born June, 4 1929 at Danbury, Iowa. Gerry was raised in the Thompson
and Forest City area. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1947.
Gerry was united in marriage to Calvin Hansmeier on January 20, 1950 at the
Methodist church in Garner, Iowa, they moved to grandpa August Hansmeier's farm
north of Crystal Lake. They spent most of their lives farming in the Crystal
Lake township area. Geraldine was a farm wife and worked outside the home for
Winnebago Industries, Polar Chemical and Gas, and Erv's Agri-service. Geraldine
and Calvin lived on the farm north of Crystal Lake after retiring.
Gerry enjoyed playing cards with friends in their card club for over fifty
years. She also enjoyed her church, family and grandchildren. She always got a
smile on her face spending time with her grandchildren and watching her great
grandchildren Cameron and twins Jacob and Jackson.
Gerry is survived two children, son Michael Hansmeier of Crystal Lake; daughter
Joan Smith of Clear Lake; grandchildren Richard (Kim) Smith, James Smith; Great
grandchildren Cameron, Jacob and Jackson Smith; brother Donald Gahan; sister
Norma Burgardt; in-law Joe Dale Julian of Celebration, Florida; along with
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Calvin, sister Eileen
Larson, brother-in-law Donald Hansmeier, sister-in law Darlene Hansmeier, one
grandson, and son-in-law Ronald Smith.
