Gilbert L. Williamson

Gilbert L. Williamson, 78, of Dows, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Visitation for Gilbert Williamson will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 100 North Lee Street in Dows.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and sent to Beverly’s attention at Ewing Funeral Home, P.O. Box 396 Dows, IA, 50071.

Gilbert Lee Williamson was born November 10, 1939 to John Boyd and Anna Ione (Sharkey) Williamson in Rockwell City, Iowa.  He attended country school through the 8^th grade, then attended and graduated from Rockwell City High School with the class of 1958.

Following graduation, Gilbert farmed alongside his father and brother.

Gilbert was united in marriage to Beverly Agnes Draves on November 30, 1963.  The couple made their home in Rockwell City, moving to a farm in 1967.  In 1977, they moved to a farm near Knierim where they farmed until moving to Dows in 1986.

Gilbert enjoyed trail riding in Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.  He also loved to fish and hunt, having made several trips to Canada and Minnesota over the years.  Playing cards was another pastime, he played every day that he could.  In recent years, Gilbert enjoyed working as a greens keeper at the Dows Golf Course and was a member of the Dows Volunteer Fire Department.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Beverly of Dows; his sister Arlene (Richard) Willis; his brother Garry (Sharon) Williamson; along with many nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Feldhans, brothers Vernon and Lorin, brother-in-law Robert Feldhans, and nephew Tim Feldhans.
