Glenn R. "Moo" Meints, 85, of Belmond, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at
St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Glenn Richard, son of Bill and Tillie (Henn) Meints, was born on February 24,
1929 near Belmond. Moo grew up in and around Belmond where he attended school.
He graduated from Belmond High School in 1947.
Glenn was united in marriage to Jan Lerdal on October 22, 1952 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Belmond. The couple made their home near Belmond, on an
acreage outside of town. Glenn wored for his dad at the Phillips 66 station for
many years before buying the Laundromat with Jan. They moved into town in 2004
where they lived at the Belmond Community Apartments Condominiums.
Glenn was Belmond's favorite son. He worked hard to make Belmond the best little
town it could be. His participation in groups and activities for Belmond could
not be contained here, but, briefly, Glenn was active in Belmond Ambulance Crew,
Belmond Arts Council, and Hospice. Glenn was a devour member of the Trinity
Lutheran Church in Belmond.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jan; adpoted family Max and Jenny
Peterson and their children; 3 sisters Grace Haugen of Dows, Marion Carpenter of
Belmond, and Karen (John) Ofstethun of Clarion.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Con and Bill; and sister Esther
Halverson.
