Gloria Jean Rhoads, 77, of Kanawha, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at her
home in Kanawha.
Gloria, the daughter of Dale and Luella (Williamson) Heady, was born October 20,
1929 in Wright County, Iowa. The family made their home in Kanawha for a few
years before moving to Chicago. They later returned to Kanawha where Gloria
completed her education, graduating with the class of 1947.
On August 20, 1947 Gloria was united in marriage with Harold Rhoads at The
Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Kanawha until
1958 when they moved to Denhart where they owned and operated the Denhart
Grocery. Gloria ran the store until it closed in 1967 she then stayed home to
take care of her family. In 1973 they returned to Kanawha where they currently
reside.
Gloria loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting, canning,
cooking and baking and caring for her houseplants.
She was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle.
Gloria is survived by her husband of nearly sixty years Harold of Kanawha; two
sons: Gerald Rhoads of Forest City, Mark Rhoads of Britt; four grandchildren;
two sisters: Delores (Howard) Grimm of Council Bluffs, Mary Lou (Rollin) Rogness
of Minot, North Dakora and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
