Obituary


Harm M. Uken, 90, of Kanawha went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning November 14, 2005, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Harm was a well-known farmer in the Kanawha Community.  He was a life-long member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church in which he served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and Elder.  Harm was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  He loved living life and creating wonderful memories.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Anna (nee DeWaard) to whom he was married for over 65 years.  His passing is also mourned by three children and their spouses: Mary Ann and John Meter, Ronald and Suzanne Miel-Uken, and Harvey and Beverly Uken.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Laura (Brian) Bartels, Pamela (Edward) Postma, Sheryl (Douglas) Bouws, Amy (Benjamin) Meyer, Nicole Miel-Uken, Jaclyn Miel-Uken (Ira) Sanborn, Gregory Uken, Brenda (Jeremy) Dobay, Deanna Uken and 13 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Betty Schreur, and four sisters-in-law, Theressa Uken, Lucille DeWaard, Cyrena Kinseth, and Nellie Eliason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Okko and Mary Uken; two sisters: Anna Schreur, Martha Eekhoff, and brother, Donald Uken.
