Obituary


Harold M. Stromquist, age 85, of Clarion, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2004, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, Iowa.

Funeral services for Harold Stromquist will be held Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 1:00 P.M., at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 602 North Main in Clarion. With Pastor Don Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Harold Stromquist son of Carl and Mabel (Anderson) Stromquist was born October 7, 1918 in Clarion. He was raised and educated in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School.

Harold worked at the family’s business, the Clarion Hatchery, until he left to serve in WWII. He was a member of the Army Air Corps in England as a radioman. This sparked a life long hobby as a Ham radio operator. Harold was a member of the local VFW and was very proud of his military service for his country.

Harold thought of himself as a carpenter for most of his life. After leaving the service he worked for the Thor Lumber Yard. Around 1960 he was employed by Evans Lumber and Construction until his retirement.

Harold is survived by his nephew, Robert Waters, of Mackinaw, Illinois along with several great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mabel; a brother and a sister.
