Harold M. Rhoads, 77, passed away Friday, October 12, 2007 at Hancock County
Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Harold, the son of Wayne and Emma (Hartwig) Rhoads, was born November 20, 1929
in rural Kanawha. The family made their home in rural Kanawha where Harold
attended county school in Magor Township #7. He completed his education at
Kanawha High School graduating with the class of 1947.
On August 20, 1947 Harold was united in marriage with Gloria Heady at The Little
Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed his father's farm north of
Britt then later near Thompson and Clear Lake before moving to Denhart in 1958.
While in Denhard, they owned and operated the Denhard Grocery. Harold then
became the manager of the Denhart Elevator. The family moved into Kanawha in
1973 where Harold managed the Kanahwa Co-op Elevator.
Harold enjoyed fishing and spending time at Harold's Hide-away in Spirit Lake.
He also enjoyed hunting and collecting coins. Visiting with his coffee buddies
at Pronto was a very important part of Harold's day.
Harold was a member of the Kanwaha Lutheran Church.
Harold is survived by two sons: Gerald Rhoads of Forest City, Mark Rhoads of
Britt; four grandchildren; two sisters: Betty (Bob) Miller of Brit and Ruby
Carlson of Estherville and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria on August 7, 2007 and one
sister in infancy.
