Hedvig Johnson, 97, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 1991 at the Loring Care
Center in Sac City, Iowa.
Hedvig, the daughter of Anton and Thealinda (Johnson) Willadson, was born April
12, 1893 in Granite Canon, Wyoming. In 1900 she moved with her family to Fort
Dodge and soon after, she moved to Britt where she received her education. She
was employed in a music store and gave piano lessons. In her early days she
played the piano for the silent movies at the Princess Theater in Britt.
On September 26, 1912 she was united in marriage with Edward Johnson from Sweden
in Mason City. The couple established their home in Britt. In August of 1982
she became a resident of Sac City.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt for 75 years where she
had also been the organist.
Hedvig was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, who passed
away September 22, 1954; a great-grandchild, Richard Luppen, four brothers and
two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Palmer and her husband, Keith of Sac City,
Iowa; three sons: William Johnson and his wife, Martha of Lewisville, Texas;
Harold Johnson and his wife, Gen of Britt, Iowa; Rudy Johnson and his wife,
Evelyn of International Falls, MN; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren;
four great great-grandchildren.
