Obituary
Helen Kudej Severson, 98, of Garner, died Friday, September 17, 1993 at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus, in Mason City, Iowa.
Helen F. Severson was born July 17, 1895 in Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Lahetchka) Kudej. At the age of four years, the family moved to a farm northeast of Kanawha. She attended rural schools in Twin Lake and Amsterdam Townships.
On January 11, 1921, she married Henry O. Severson in Kanawha. They had three children: Donald, Duane, and Marilyn. They lived in the Kanawha vicinity all their married life.
Helen moved to Prairie View Apartments, on September 1, 1985, then to Concord Care Center, on September 19, 1991, where she resided until her death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was very active in both. Also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past Presidents Parley of the Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two children, Donald and his wife, Gene Severson of Sioux City, Iowa and Duane and his wife, Helen Severson of Garner, Iowa; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry on December 6, 1984, her daughter, Marilyn on December 31, 1991, a sister, Mary and four brothers, Albert, Ed, Joe and John.
