Hellen LaVonne Folkerts was born May 10, 1919 in Kanawha, the daughter of Jake and Theona (VanDusseldorp) Folkerts.

She married Edward Putzstuck on September 10, 1951. To this union three children were born, Ronald, Arlin and Rita.

Hellen was the accountant for the Plumbing and Heating business that she and Ed owned. After Ed’s passing on March 13, 1967 she was a stay at home Mom, devoted to her children. She took in washing and sewing projects, and babysat often. She later worked at Britt Tech Corporation until her retirement.

She always enjoyed family visits, and cherished the shopping trips with her sister Pauline. (Hellen never got over the loss of her dear sister.) She loved to reminisce about her 25 plus years as a Sunday School teacher.

Hellen is survived by her son Ronald “Red” (Peg) of Kanawha and daughter Rita (Joel) DeVries of Britt, four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jake and Theona; her husband Edward; son Arlin; sister Pauline Rapp; brother Art Folkerts; several nieces and nephews.
