Obituary


Henrietta Baker, 79, passed away Thursday, October 21, 1993, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Henrietta, the daughter of Will and Titca (Frohling) Boelman, was born June 28, 1914 in Belmond, Iowa.  She received her education in the country schools in Wright County.

On November 20, 1935, she was united in marriage to Pete Baker in the Immanuel Reformed Church near Belmond, Iowa.  The couple farmed in Hancock County for 50 years.  In 1978 they moved into Britt.

She was a member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha and the Britt Christian Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years.  She was a founding member of the Ladies Aid and a Calvinettes leader.  She enjoyed sewing.  Henrietta's life evolved around farm, church and her family.

Survivors include two daughters: Shirley and her husband, Harold Battleson of Britt, Iowa; Roberta and her husband, Daniel Juhl of Garner, Iowa; two sons: Brian and his wife, Missy Baker of Britt, Iowa and William and his wife, Jean Baker of Kasson, Minnesota; three brothers: Darrell and his wife, Ruthie Boelman of Bonne, Iowa; Bud and his wife, Marie Boelman of Belmond, Iowa; Herman and his wife, Betty Boelman of Alexander, Iowa; two sisters: Ruth Dorenkamp of Clear Lake, Iowa and Dorothy Abbas of Belmond, Iowa; a brother-in-law: Anco and his wife, Pauline Baker of Kanawha, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Stella Baker of Kanawha, Iowa; Esther Boelman of Belmond, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete in 1982, a brother, Joyce Boelman, a sister, Thada Kuhlers.
