Obituary
Henrietta Louise Cottington, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 1995 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.
Henrietta, the daughter of Anfin and Mary (Shaw) Slattenow was born March 19, 1907, on a farm near Ontario, Iowa. In 1915 she moved with her family to Hayfield, where she attended school and graduated in 1926. In 1928 she moved to Crystal Lake where she and two sisters were Crystal Lake's first telephone operators. On October 14, 1932 she was united in marriage with Donald Cottington in Crystal Lake. Henrietta was a member of the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; a daughter, Donna and her husband, Harold Gabby of Austin, Texas; a son, Douglas and his wife, Susan of Emmetsburg, Iowa; son-in-law, Joseph Huinker of Garner, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Mabel Diebler of Waterloo, Iowa; and a brother, Sanford Slattenow of Waterloo, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Judith Lee Huinker, three brothers, Orrie, James and Clifford; and two sisters, Opal and Alma.
